What is WhatsApp coexistence?
It is an official Meta feature that connects your WhatsApp Business app to the WhatsApp Business API without disconnecting the app. The app on your phone and WhatChimp then work on the same number at the same time.
Does it work with personal WhatsApp?
No. Coexistence works with the WhatsApp Business app only. A number on personal WhatsApp has to be removed from it first, and can then be connected to WhatChimp as a regular API number.
Will my earlier chats come across?
If you choose “Share chats” while connecting, up to the last six months of chat history is brought into WhatChimp. You can also choose not to share. Meta does not let you change that choice later.
What stops working in the WhatsApp Business app?
Broadcast lists, disappearing messages, view-once media and editing or deleting sent messages for everyone are turned off by Meta. Direct messaging, calls, status updates and your profile keep working.
Is there downtime, or a risk of losing my number?
No. There is no migration: your number stays on your phone and in the app while it is being connected, and customers can write to you throughout.
Is coexistence available in every country?
Meta offers it in eligible countries. If your country is eligible you will see the option while connecting your number; if you do not see it, it is not available in your region yet.
