Watch it work
See the WhatChimp API in use
A walkthrough for developers, from the token to the first message.
Four ways to build on WhatChimp
Use the one that fits, or all of them together.
Developer API
Do from your code what you do by hand
Send a message, create a subscriber, add a label, start a bot flow. Each one is a single request with your account’s token.
- Messages, templates, message status and conversations
- Subscribers, custom fields, labels, sequences and notes
- Catalogs and catalog orders
Webhooks
Hear about it the moment it happens
WhatChimp posts each event to an address you choose, so your system reacts without asking again and again.
- Incoming and outgoing messages, per number
- Keyword triggers, button clicks, question flows and forms
- Catalog orders and appointment bookings, with a log of every call
Incoming webhook workflow
Let any system send a WhatsApp template
Give another system a WhatChimp address to call. WhatChimp reads what arrives, maps it into a template and sends it.
- Map the phone number and each blank of the template
- Formatters, a delay and condition rules before sending
- A report of what was delivered, opened or skipped
HTTP API in the chatbot
Let the bot call your own system mid-conversation
A step in the chatbot can call any address, read the answer and use it in the reply, so customers get live data without waiting for a person.
- GET and POST, with your own headers and body
- The response is saved to custom fields on the contact
- The bot uses those fields in its next message
- 0% markup fees
- Official WhatsApp API
- Meta Business Partner

What teams ask before they start. Can’t find your answer? See every question or chat with our team.
Where do I find my API token?
In your WhatChimp account, under Settings, in the API Developer Console. The console also lets you try each endpoint.
What can I do with the API?
Send messages and templates, check message status, read conversations, manage subscribers, labels, sequences and notes, start bot flows, and work with catalogs and their orders.
Do I need a developer?
For the Developer API, custom webhooks and the HTTP API step in the chatbot, usually yes. The incoming webhook workflow is set up from WhatChimp’s screens by mapping fields.
Can I send any message through the API?
WhatsApp’s own rules apply. Free text is delivered inside the customer’s 24-hour window, and approved templates are used outside it.
Which events can WhatChimp send to my system?
Incoming and outgoing messages, keyword triggers, button clicks, completed question flows, WhatsApp form submissions, catalog orders and appointment bookings.
Does my firewall need to allow WhatChimp?
If your system only accepts calls from known addresses, the help centre lists the IP addresses WhatChimp calls from, so you can allow them.
