WhatChimp now allows you to fetch Google Sheet data and use it in chatbot replies in WhatsApp. This feature helps businesses provide quick and relevant responses, or any other stored information.

Prerequisites #

Before you start, ensure you have:

  • A WhatChimp account
  • A Google account with access to Google Sheets

Setting Up Google Sheets for Chatbot Replies #

1. Creating Custom Fields #

Before fetching data, you need custom fields to store the retrieved information.

  • Go to Subscriber Manager on the WhatChimp dashboard.
  • Click Manage Custom Fields under the Manage option.
  • Click Create, name the custom field, and select its type.
  • Add as many custom fields as needed.

2. Connecting Google Account to WhatChimp #

  • From Settings, select Google Sheet Integration.
  • Click Sign in with Google and log in to your Google account.
  • Add an existing sheet or create a new one.

Creating a Campaign to Fetch Data #

Once the Google Sheet is connected, create a campaign to fetch data.

  • Go to Google Sheet Fetch Data in Settings.
  • Select WhatsApp Data Fetch Campaign and click Create.
  • Name the API and select the Google Sheet to fetch data from.
  • Map Data:
    • Choose a Search Data field (e.g., subscriber message).
    • Select the Google Sheet column headers and map them to the corresponding custom fields.
    • Add as many fields as needed.
  • Click Verify Connection to confirm setup.

Integrating Google Sheet Data into Chatbot Replies #

Now, integrate the fetched data into your chatbot responses.

  • Go to WhatsApp Bot Manager and click Create Bot Reply.
  • Add a keyword-based trigger (e.g., “Plumber”, “Electrician”).
  • Select Google Sheet Data Fetch and link it to the campaign.
  • Use custom fields in the reply text to personalize responses.
  • Save and test your bot.

Example: If a user asks for a plumber, the bot retrieves the plumber’s contact details from the Google Sheet and provides them in the reply.
